We offer two different types of physical training through R3BAR at our Calvary Christian Assembly Church on Thursday evenings starting March 14th and running through May 23rd.

1. R3BAR Mini Band Group Training: These sessions are on our full court for 30 minutes with our current team members. Individuals can sign up for these 30 min sessions with a mini band to work on strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, and quickness.

2. R3BAR Alpha Pro Training: Coach Mike will work with individuals or small groups in a smaller room next to our court with the R3BAR Alpha training system. This is the best strength, mobility, and balance training for youth and HS student-athletes.

• Mini Band R3BAR Large Group Session from 5-5:30pm (4th-8th boys/girls)
• ALPHA R3BAR Private Session from 5:30-6pm (4th-6th boys/girls)
• ALPHA R3BAR Private Session from 6-6:30pm (HS boys/girls)
• ALPHA R3BAR Private Session from 6:30-7pm (7th-8th boys/girls)
• ALPHA R3BAR Private Session from 7-7:30pm (HS boys/girls)
• Mini Band R3BAR Large Group Session from 7:30-8pm (HS boys/girls)

The Seattle Select / Roosevelt Select Spring Training League is a weekly training with an emphasis on fundamentals and live scrimmage. Each week the student-athletes will work on position specific drills and concepts, compete in live games, and receive weekly homework. The Training League will offer a high level of instruction and fun with players of the same age, skill, and gender.

This is a great program for student-athletes to play basketball and improve their skills without a huge commitment. These sessions are run by coach Chase Young and other staff members.

When:

• Girls 3rd-5th Grade: Mondays, 4-5pm @ Calvary Church from Mar 4th – May 20th
• Girls 6th-8th Grade: Wednesdays, 6-7pm @ U Prep from Mar 6th – May 22nd
• Boys 3rd-5th Grade: Tuesdays, 4-5pm @ Calvary Church from Mar 5th – May 21st
• Boys 6th-8th Grade: Wednesdays, 7-8pm @ U Prep from Mar 6th – May 22nd
• Boys High School: Wednesdays, 8-9pm @ U Prep from Mar 6th – May 22nd

Price: $200 / 3 months (March through – May) and includes reversible jersey.

The Fall Training League is 5 weeks long at Meridian Park Elementary with coach Gregg Kalina. Each session is 1.5 hours long where they will work on skills and concepts for 45 min. then scrimmage live for 45 min. under a controlled setting. This will allow student-athletes to improve their skills as well as their basketball IQ and learning to play the right way.

Last weekend was the 3rd Annual WCE NW High Academic All-Star Camp which included 120 of the NW’s best student-athletes.

The camp average GPA was 3.57!

The high academic colleges that attended the event included Occidental, Redlands, UPS, Linfield, Willamette, Pacific, Lewis and Clark, Pacific Lutheran, Vanguard, Swarthmore, Multnomah, Alaska Fairbanks, and SPU.

Donald Watts worked with the campers and passed along valuable advice and insight into college basketball. Tim Manson from R3BAR worked with the student-athletes on their training habits, conditioning, and a positive competitive mind set. WCE President Ryan Silver gave a great seminar to all the parents about a realistic approach and the current recruiting world. Harvey Rubin from Academic Basketball Club in CT spoke with the players and parents about how to use their high GPA along with their basketball abilities to find the right school where they can grow as true student-athletes.

All the teams were coached by current head and assistant coaches at these prestigious schools. Next high academic camp will be in LA in March 2019.

Seattle Select High Academic HS teams represented in a major way this year at the Bigfoot Classic in Las Vegas. The 15u team coached by Zac Townsend went to the Sweet 16 in the Platinum division. The 16u team coached by Luke Hamlin went to the Final Four in the Platinum division, and the 17u team coached by Chase Young went to the Sweet 16 in the Platinum Premier division.

The champions of the Bigfoot Classic were the Cali Stars Elite whose only loss of the Summer came to our Seattle Select High Academic 17u team at the WCE Summer Classic a week before. Our high academic standards brought a lot of college coaches and scouts to our games. All of the teams received overwhelming praise from college coaches for the way our teams defend, pass, and play team basketball. We are extremely proud of all of our teams, coaches, and student-athletes.

Over 20 student-athletes from the Seattle Select High Academic program participated in this incredible annual event in Las Vegas before the Bigfoot Classic. The event put on by WCE was hosted at Coronado HS where dozens of high academic college coaches helped run and coach the camp.

There were over 100 high academic D2 and D3 colleges who attended the event. Although our team members were split up onto different teams, they were easily identifiable by their SS High Academic team shorts they wore. Our players were able to meet and greet with dozens of college coaches who expressed interest in their game and academics.

Colleges included Swarthmore, Pomona, Claremont, NYU, Oberlin, Macalester, Sarah Lawrence, Whitman, Cal Lutheran, MIT and more.

Session 2: Aug 13th-16th from 10am-3pm
Session 3: Aug 20th-23rd from 10am-3pm

All camps are lead by head coach Chase Young. Additional coaches include current and retired players as well as Seattle Select High Academic team coaches.
